How to Throw a Sprinkle
“Sprinkle” parties have been on the rise lately. It used to be that people would just have a baby shower for their first child, but now it's becoming more common to have a sprinkle for their second child. Now, typically this used to only happen if the children are far apart in age. For example, my cousin had her second child 7 years after her first. She had gotten rid of most her baby stuff so she had a sprinkle to get more baby items.
However, sprinkles are becoming more common lately. Even if the kids are born close together there still seems to be a sprinkle for baby #2. A baby shower is a larger and more elaborate celebration. A sprinkle is a more casual and intimate celebration.
Themes for a sprinkle:
- Sprinkles! Set up a photo wall with some an adorable sprinkle background. An ice cream bar complete with colorful sprinkles is the perfect dessert treat for your sprinkle!
- Donuts: Who doesn’t love sprinkles on their donuts? A donut bar is the sweetest treat for an intimate gathering of special women!
- Rainshower: A rainy day theme is the sweetest cozy theme for a baby sprinkle! Bring some umbrellas for some fun photo booth pictures! Cookies decorated like an umbrella and rain would be the perfect touch for a rainy day theme!
If a mom has had another baby recently they might not have many items they need for baby #2. Check if they have a registry for their sprinkle, but if not here are two top notch ideas.
What should you do at a sprinkle?
Since sprinkles are a smaller more casual get together the focus should just be on celebrating the mom. Set up a photo wall, some light refreshments, and watch the mom to be open her presents! This will be more than enough to make any mama feel special!
Gifts for a sprinkle:
-Diapers and wipes: A classic gift that you know every family will need and use!
-Pacifiers: You cannot go wrong with pacifiers! Pacifiers need to be replaced every four to six weeks, so you know that they're going to be repeatedly needing new ones. So they should not have any saved from a previous child. In addition to an infant pacifier, you should also gift the mama and baby an Ingy Bingy Band, a pacifier wristband. A pacifier clip has been the typical solution when the infant pacifier keeps falling out.
However, babies can’t typically put their newborn pacifier back in their mouth on their own using a pacifier clip until they are around 8 months. The Ingy Bingy Band is a pacifier wristband that helps your fussy baby to calm down all on their own! This pacifier bracelet helps babies to self-soothe from as early as four months old! This pacifier wristband is a sanity saver, especially with a second child, you are gonna want something to calm down that baby while you're attending to your older child.
