Best Fall Family Activities with a Newborn

The Ingy Bingy Band, a fantastic pacifier wristband, will let you can enjoy your fall outing without having to constantly search for that newborn pacifier!

Fall is approaching and I’m already hearing non stop chatter about apple picking, pumpkin patches, and pumpkin spice lattes. Truthfully, I’m ready to get rid of this heat and move on to cozy sweaters and fall scented candles.

However, if you’ve recently had a baby or are going to have a baby this fall, you might be feeling anxious about how to go about doing all the fun fall things with your sweet bundle of joy. Here’s our ideas for best fall family activities with a newborn!

  1. Stay Home! Light the fall scented candles, buy some candy corn, and watch Halloweentown! What your body really needs after having a baby is rest. All you need to focus on this fall is cuddling and feeding your baby. Don’t worry about getting Instagram worthy photos at fun locations if you aren’t feeling up to it. Soak up every moment with your precious pumpkin at home!
  2. Fall Themed Books: Like I said, stay home and rest. You can still make memories you will remember with your little one by getting some fall themed books from the library and snuggling up on the couch with your baby!
  3. Apple Orchard/Pumpkin Patch: If you are healing well and are feeling up to an outing, an apple orchard or pumpkin patch is a great place to go with a little one. It’s outside so if there’s a little extra fussing from your baby no one will notice, no one will notice!
  4. Pumpkin Decorating: If you get a pumpkin from a pumpkin patch (or the store) you can incorporate your baby in your decorating process! Paint your baby’s hand or foot and stamp it onto your pumpkin! It is sure to be your favorite decoration this holiday season!
  5. Sensory Play: If your baby is a little bit older (6 months+) you can incorporate some fall sensory play. Gut a pumpkin and let your baby play with the guts and seeds! Be mindful to watch your baby closely because the seeds are choking hazards! Another idea for sensory play is to put some leaves in a bucket and let your baby explore! There are endless ideas for sensory play!

If you are feeling up to an outing to an apple orchard or pumpkin patch, you might still be a little hesitant. Here are some tips to help your fall adventure go smoothly!

  1. Baby Carrier/Stroller: You don’t want to be stuck carrying your baby the entire time through rows of apples without a carrier. You can keep baby close to your chest and nurse discretely too if necessary! A stroller is a great option too, but some pumpkin patches/apple orchards may busy and difficult to manuever with a stroller. Orchards could have tough terrain as well making it hard to push and/or uncomfortable for your baby to ride!
  2. Ingy Bingy Band: A pacifier can be a huge game changer in the newborn stage! It is a huge help to have something that can stop the ear piercing cry immediately, especially in the presence of strangers! The only problem is when the pacifier keeps falling out! That’s where the Ingy Bingy Band comes in!

The Ingy Bingy Band is a pacifier wristband that velcros around baby’s wrist to help them locate, reinsert their paci and self-soothe from as early as 4 months! This fantastic pacifier bracelet will let you can enjoy your fall outing without having to constantly search for that newborn pacifier!

3. Dress Appropriately: Sometimes we forget how chilly it can get in the fall. Babies are especially susceptible to cold weather! Make sure you have your baby dressed in lots of layers!
