5 Things You Don’t Need on Your Baby Registry (and the 1 Thing You Do)

5 Things You Don’t Need on Your Baby Registry (and the 1 Thing You Do)

If you're building your baby registry and spiraling, you're in the right place. Let me save you from over-registering.

As a mom of three, I can confidently tell you: Most baby registries are filled with things you don’t actually need.

The biggest mistake first-time moms make? Adding items that look helpful but don’t solve real-life problems.

Here are 5 things you don’t need on your baby registry and the one surprising thing that will actually make your life easier.

1. Tons of Baby Clothes

Babies grow at superhuman speed.

You’ll receive clothes whether you register for them or not. And most newborn outfits get worn once, if at all.

Register for:

  • A few zip-up sleepers

  • 5–7 simple onesies

  • Some comfy swaddles

Pro Tip: If you get a lot of one size, return them for a bigger size in the same outfit!

2. A Fancy Play Mat

We had one. It was adorable. Did it change our lives? Absolutely not.

Babies are fascinated by:

  • Your face

  • Ceiling fans

  • A simple blanket on the floor

Save the money.

3. 15 Different Pacifiers

Here’s where things get real.

You do not need:

  • 8 brands of newborn pacifier

  • A drawer full of backups

  • Complicated multi-piece designs

Start with one or two high-quality infant pacifier options. And here’s something no one tells you: Even when you find the perfect newborn pacifier. It will fall out. Constantly.

If your infant pacifier keeps falling out, you will spend your life picking it up, unless you have the right pacifier accessory.

4. Multi-Piece Gadgets That Are “So Innovative”

If it requires an instruction manual and special cleaning brushes? You don’t need it. With baby #3, I simplified everything. The less complicated the product, the happier I was at 2am.

5. Every Viral “Must-Have” Item

TikTok says it’s essential. Reality says you’ll use it twice. Aesthetic wipe warmers. Designer diaper caddies. Trendy loungers. They’re cute. They’re not necessary.

The One Thing You Do Need: A Better Pacifier Solution

Here’s the honest truth:

Pacifiers are lifesavers. But they fall out 400 times a day. Yes, you can use a pacifier clip.
But clips dangle, drag, get lost, and aren’t always positioned where baby needs them.

With our third baby, we found the Ingy Bingy Band and I wish I’d had it from day one.

It’s a soft wristband that:

  • Velcros gently around baby’s wrist

  • Attaches to any infant pacifier on the market

  • Keeps it right within reach

So instead of:
Baby cries, Pacifier falls, You scramble

It becomes:
Baby self-soothes, You breathe

It’s simple. It’s practical. It actually solves the problem. And that’s what belongs on your registry.

Minimalist Registry Rule

When deciding what to add, ask:

Does this solve a real daily frustration?

If yes, add it. If not, skip it. You don’t need more stuff. You need fewer problems. And trust me, future sleep-deprived you will thank you.

The Ingy Bingy Band is not your everyday pacifier clip! This game-changing pacifier wristband helps babies self-soothe at a younger age than ever before! Instinctively, babies gnaw on their hands in an attempt to soothe. The Ingy Bingy pacifier wristband keeps their pacifier right where they’ll find it, allowing your baby to comfort and calm themselves while you do whatever it is you need to do!

Our buttery soft wristband comes in two styles to accommodate every pacifier.

Our Pacific style should be used when your baby’s pacifier holes are near their nose and chin when in use. It is most commonly used with Avent, BIBS, Dr. Brown’s, MAM, Nuby, NUK, Medela, FRIGG, Nanobébé, Tommee Tippee, and Chicco pacifiers.

Our Sequoia style should be used when your baby’s pacifier holes are near their nose and chin when in use. It is most commonly used with Itzy Ritzy, Ryan & Rose, and The Dearest Grey pacifiers.

If you are still unsure which pacifier wristband style is right for you, check out our style guide or text the name and/or picture of your preferred paci & we’ll let you know which style is right for you!
